Over 75 years of support

Sixty Plus Lunch Club has been providing social and dining experiences tailored to the needs of individuals aged sixty and above in Potters Bar and the surrounding areas for over 75 years.

The Sixty Plus (Potters Bar and South Mimms) Club first started in February 1948 under the name Potters Bar Old Folks Welcome Club.

It began as “a club for the over 60s to provide entertainment and social discourse for the lonely” and was set up by Councillor Mrs Gregory, chairman of the Potters Bar Urban District Council, and Mrs Stockdale.

The name changed to Sixty Plus (Potters Bar and South Mimms) in September 1989 and in December 1990 the club moved to its current location at the Wyllyotts Centre, Wyllyotts Place. The club held its meetings twice a week at the TOC Hall in Darkes Lane and had about 80 members.
